The Quadrangle, Cheltenham
Dating from the 1970’s, this landmark building in the heart of Cheltenham was refurbished to provide premium office space over four storeys to meet the needs of Cheltenham’s business community.
In addition to the lettable office spaces, the ground floor provides individual units for retail and café venues, and an additional fifth floor was built on to the existing structure to provide a new roof top restaurant offering views across the tree tops of Montpellier.
Environmental design was key, and as such energy efficient and renewable technologies were provided including Photovoltaic (PV) panels, Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) and Rainwater Harvesting.
To further enhance the buildings environmental and sustainable targets, the building was subject to a BREEAM assessment and successfully achieved a Very Good rating.
The Office spaces were designed by AWW Architects to be open plan and flexible. Careful coordination of the buildign services was required to ensure the installation was of a high quality, maintained the desired architectural aesthetic and remained practical for both installation and future maintenance.
Throughout the duration of the project, Savills Estate Agency were to remain resident in the building. This involved careful planning to ensure the works did not impact on their business and services were maintained at all times.
The project was further complicated by the town centre location, meaning there was limited space for removals and deliveries of large plant items had to be carefully coordinated.
Completed in May 2021, the project was a great success and is a superb asset to Cheltenham.
