Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Gloucester for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and coordination of all HVAC systems and controls on projects, working with our own team and as part of the wider design team to deliver a construction issue design. We place a strong emphasis on practical knowledge and an ability to design fully coordinated schemes that are both practical to install and commercially viable.

  • Producing detailed mechanical engineering designs and calculations.
  • Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into the overall project design.
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and environmental considerations.
  • Managing and mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional development.
  • Conducting site inspections and liaising with our construction team to ensure successful implementation of projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports, specifications, and documentation.
  • Providing technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participating in client meetings and presentations to communicate design solutions effectively.
  • Heating, Ventilation & Cooling (HVAC)
  • Public Health Systems
  • Building Management Systems
  • Building Energy Modelling and Part L Compliance
  • Low Carbon Design

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND Building Services Engineering as a minimum.
  • CIBSE Membership/Chartered Status would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience in designing HVAC systems for a wide range of building types
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good practical knowledge is an advantage
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • AutoCAD Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills
  • Revit experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Proficient in the use of design calculation software such as Hevacomp/IES/TAS

Electrical Design Engineer

  • Producing detailed electrical designs and calculations.

  • BS7671:2018 advantageous but not essential
  • City & Guilds 2396 advantageous but not essential
  • IET Membership would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience in designing Electrical systems for a wide range of building types
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good practical knowledge is an advantage
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • AutoCAD Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills
  • Revit experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Proficient in the use of design calculation software such as Trimble Pro Design, Relux, Dialux etc..
